
The Research Group on Rehabilitation and Independent Living (RGRIL)
has an active history of writing and securing grants to implement research and
related training.
Several current research projects are described below:
Assessing disaster preparation and emergency response for people with mobility
impairments.
Developing a
web-based risk assessment instrument which assesses the risk for onset of
secondary conditions for people with physical disabilities.
Assisting
women with disabilities to increase physical activity levels to improve
their health and reduce secondary conditions.
Training
individuals with disabilities to write effective advocacy letters to
initiate community change regarding their disability concerns.
Identifying
barriers that prevent people with emerging disabilities, such as chronic fatigue
syndrome, and multiple chemical sensitivity syndrome, from participating more
fully in their communities.
